DSC02088Wetlands Discovery Center Summer Camp Scheduled for June

The South Louisiana Wetlands Discovery Center will hold its annual summer camp from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 6-10 and June 13-17 for campers ages 9-12.

Campers will take field trips to exciting wetlands venues and then return to the Bayou Terrebonne Waterlife Museum to discuss their experiences and participate in other fun activities. The Wetlands Explorer Camp (June 6-10) focuses on what makes our coast special and the Working Coast Camp (June 13-17) explores our natural resources.

Camp activities include a Bayou Terrebonne Waterlife Museum Scavenger Hunt, USDA Sugarcane Research Station Tour, T. Baker Smith Tour, Wildlife Gardens Swamp Tour, A Cajun Man’s Swamp Tour, Greenwood Alligator Farm tour and MORE!

“We are very fortunate to have such a wonderful and creative staff to develop our program each year.  I’m always impressed with the new activities they create to provide hands-on education for our students. Some days I think I have just as much fun participating in Swamp Camp as the kids!” said Wetlands Discovery Center Executive Director Jonathan Foret.

The Wetlands Discovery Center’s summer camp is made possible by a grant from ConocoPhillips.

Camp tuition is $135 per week and includes ALL field trip costs. There is NO REGISTRATION FEE!  Registration for the camp is on a first come, first served basis with only 30 students being accepted per week.
